And just like that we are down to the wire! Early voting began Oct 5 at 8am. At the local Board of Elections at 225 S Main St in Bellefontaine. Please vote in this election and please vote Democrat! If you aren’t sure who the Democratic candidates on the list are, I will provide a list at the end of this newsletter. You can go to the Board of Elections website and see a sample ballot for your address. www.boe.ohio.gov/logan
You can also request an absentee ballot by mail or you can stop in and get one at the BOE or you can always vote in person Nov 2 at your polling location. If you need assistance in any way, (rides, information, ballot issues) just let us know and we will get you help. Please remember
WHEN EVERYONE VOTES, DEMOCRATS WIN!
Our City Council Candidates have been out canvassing every weekend and one day thru the week. We have knocked on so many doors but will keep knocking till election day. Feel free to jump in and help out whenever you can. We will start phonebanking very soon. You should be seeing yard signs around the town now and if not, start paying attention cause they are out there! Please let me know if we can use your yard for signs.
Friday Oct 1 was the Pumpkin Walk downtown Bellefontaine. Five of our city candidates were there with our popcorn machine, candy and bottled water. Downtown was packed! The popcorn machine was such a hit they couldn’t pop corn fast enough! We used all the popcorn we had, gave away all the candy and all the water! It was a very good time!
Sept 16 was first drive-thru meal fundraiser. What a great turnout we had! For being a first time event everything went very smooth. We had great workers who knew how to figure it out. The support we received was absolutely wonderful. We sold 78 meals, we brought in over $2700 and we had a profit of $1840. One of the best fundraisers we’ve had in awhile! Thank you to all who helped and supported!! This is also very heartwarming in how much the community is supporting our party and our candidates. We have really grown in the last 5 years and our plan is to continue that growth but we really need more people to get involved. We are making a difference and you can be a part of that if you can find to time to help out.
Here is a list of volunteer opportunities that we currently have.
-Staffing the office. 2-7 M-F and 11-5 Sat
-Driving for the canvassers. You don’t even get out of the car.
-Canvassing with the candidates. You will go to the door with the candidates but they will talk and you will take notes.
-Phonebanking. We have scripts you can read or just do your own talking. You can use a fake name and be whoever you want to be. We will be starting these very soon. The phone calls will focus on people we have already had contact with and follow ups with those who have requested absentee ballots.
Please keep in mind that when we make calls or knock on doors we know who we are contacting prior to going there. All of them are Democrat leaning voters. We don’t do cold or blind calls or visits. Please let us know if you are able to help on any of these projects.
We are still looking for a Deputy Treasurer. Please let us know if you are interested.
It was decided at our Monthly meeting held on Sept 30 to have another Adopt-a-family event this year. We also decided since we had such great participation last year we will expand it this year and cover more than one family. We will do one through Children Services and then donate to another organization or family of need through possibly one of the local Churches. We are still kicking around ideas on that so if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them.
